Tamale House doesn't have tamales. It does have 85 cent breakfast tacos though. Win.
At Tamale House, decor and customer experience are not even remotely a concern, but that doesn't matter even one bit. Walk up to the counter and pay attention to the giant yellow signs screaming "order here!" Give the lady your order and don't expect a smile or a thank you. Do expect to swiftly receive your delicious tacos.
The tacos are small and simple, but really what more do you need? The potatoes are soft, crispy on the outside, and perfectly seasoned. You also get a helping of eggs and a sprinkling of bright orange cheese. I doubt the tortillas are made in-house but it doesn't matter. For me, Tamale House is one of the best breakfast taco places in Austin. It's quick, easy, and non-pretentious. Plus it's totally delicious.
